Webinar Summary

Whether or not it is a COVID-19 pandemic or some other crisis, it is important to understand that as a manager/supervisor/director, you must apply all of your leadership skills to lead your team through such difficult times. This webinar will explore what leadership skills are required at that time and what do employees expect from you during such crisis. The following topics will be addressed:

  • Leading with empathy – understanding how each person reacts to such crisis, asking the right questions; understand where your employees are coming from
  • Model the behaviours you would like to see – implementing strategies to ensure the psychological well-being of your staff
  • Communication – communicate often and with transparency – discuss the real things, whether it is the fear of not being able to adapt to the new work environment or concerns about their well-being; practicing active listening
  • Be present, be visible and available – providing a healthy and safe environment for your employees
  • Management practices- understanding how this New Normal will affect your overall management practices, from scheduling two lunch hours to designating a pathway to and from the photocopy machine

Over the past 35 years, Mrs. Roy has acquired an abundance of experiences and expertise in various sectors. From an entrepreneur to becoming the Executive Director of Alianco (Atlantic Translation Organization), she also taught in high school for over 10 years, worked as a Human Resource Coordinator with businesses across Canada for over 5 years and now offers HR consulting services through a firm, HR réflexion RH, with which she is affiliated with in Campbellton, NB.

Her combination of post-secondary education in communication and education has given her excellent communication tools and insight in the human resources field. Fascinated by the behaviours of human beings in the workplace, Mrs. Roy undertook the challenge of becoming a Chartered Professional in Human Resources, national designation.
