- why is EDI important for leadership awareness and action
- culture and diversity, how they impact you and your workplace
- how culture shapes our worldview and interactions
- inclusive language and the impact on others
- how personal diversity may contribute to power/privilege
- how power and privilege play into our personal and professional life
MODULE 2 – APR (TBD)
Stereotypes, Unconscious Bias and Human Rights
- concepts of stereotypes and unconscious bias
- understand the impact of stereotypes/biased statements, even when said casually
- hidden biases and unfair hiring
- microinequities and microaggressions
- responsiblities of providing a workplace free of discrimination
- how/where you are protected under NS Human Rights
- options to resolve a human rights dispute
MODULE 3 – MAY (TBD)
Speaking Up and Taking Action
- what makes EDI conversations difficult
- practical strategies for speaking up and preventing diversity related conflict
- assertive communication techniques in an open/nonthreatening way
- role of personal responsibility in actively promoting EDI
- assess your workplace’s current state of inclusivity
- articulate an authentic commitment to EDI and why it matters to your workplace
