Full-Time Load Planner

Job Description

Armour Transportation Systems is currently seeking a Load Planner to join our Longhaul Team in Moncton, New Brunswick. 

Responsibilities

  • Plan & optimize loads to help fleet compete on price and lower over-all fleet empty mileage.
  • Objective to plan loads to improve delivery capacity while reducing overhead and increase profit margins.
  • The primary task of a load planner is to maximize the capacity of the freight network while improving operational efficiency. A load planner must be able to optimize by mixing and matching loads and trucks based on origin and destination required delivery dates with the fleet capacity.
  • The load planner must consider factors like loading sequence, destinations, empty miles, driver overtime, and more.
  • Review and action problem shipments in a timely manner.
  • Proactively find capacity to move freight.
  • Review and communicate status reports.
  • Serve as point of contact between client and internal teams.

Education and Experience Criteria

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the transportation and logistics industry or a related field, or a combination of relevant work experience and education. For example, CITT Supply Chain and Logistics Certification or other relevant college degree or certification.
  • Knowledge of the road transportation industry, including Atlantic Canadian and Ontario geography and travel times, is considered an asset.

  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with analytical decision-making skills.
  • Ability to analyze situations, identify problems or conflicts, and negotiate win-win scenarios.
  • Ability to adapt to ever-changing priorities and deadlines.

Technical Skills: 

  • Computer literacy and a strong understanding of Microsoft Office are required.
  • Experience and understanding of the TruckMate system are considered an asset.  

Working Conditions: 

  • Fast-paced, deadline-driven terminal/office environment. 
  • There is a high volume of communication via email, phone, and satellite
