Full-Time Fleet Manager – Pick Up & Delivery

Job Description

Armour Transportation Systems is currently seeking a Fleet Manager, Pickup, and Delivery (P&D) to join our team in Moncton, New Brunswick. Reporting to the Moncton Terminal Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing Armour’s Pickup and Delivery Fleet, ensuring that on-time performance and quality standards are met, and proper procedures are followed.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Work with all departments and terminals to eliminate barriers in the movement of equipment and freight to maximize usage and minimize cost.
  • Supervise the P&D Fleet’s daily duties and coordinate driver schedules with dispatch to ensure that performance, quality, and service standards are met. Manage driver relationships and performance management within the P&D Fleet, fostering an environment of trust, open communication, and accountability.
  • Ensure the P&D Fleet remains compliant with all safety and training requirements.
  • Prepare reports on performance, freight damage, accidents and injuries, customers, and employees to provide insights and support decision-making.
  • Work with the Moncton Terminal Manager and dispatch to forecast equipment and staffing needs based on volumes and customer demand.

Education and Experience Criteria: 

  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in the transportation and logistics industry or a related field, or a combination of relevant work experience and education. For example, CITT Supply Chain and Logistics Certification or other relevant college degree or industry certification.
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a dispatch role.
  • Previous experience supervising others is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of the road transportation industry, including Atlantic Canadian geography and travel times, is considered an asset.

  •          Ability to adapt to ever-changing priorities and deadlines.

Technical Skills:

  • Computer literacy and a strong understanding of Microsoft Office are required.
  • Experience and understanding of the TruckMate system are considered an asset.

 Working Conditions:

  • Fast-paced, deadline-driven terminal/office environment.
  • Ability to work variable shifts when required (days, nights, weekends, holidays) and longer shifts to cover gaps.
  • There is a high volume of communication via email, phone, and satellite.
